WeHo Rainbow Key Award Recipients Include Wendy Averill and Marilee France

Wendy Averill and Marilee France, retired, married, openly lesbian teachers in the Pasadena School System who’ve been together for more than 25 years, were among 10 community leaders honored by the West Hollywood Lesbian and Gay Advisory Board with the 2010 Rainbow Key Award on June 20 at The London West Hollywood.

ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives President Joseph Hawkins, another honoree, announced that the institution is about to become officially associated with USC.

Also honored were lesbian historian Lillian Faderman, who briefly described the importance of West Hollywood to LGBT history; the late Democratic politico Midge Costanza; Black lesbian activist/lawyer Lisa Powell; Bienestar’s extraordinary Founder and President Oscar De La O; Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing and youth group C.I.T.Y.x1; Frontiers columnist Dana Miller (who was very funny) and news editor Karen Ocamb.
